Understanding hydrogen – the ultimate energy source.
Hydrogen fuel cells can be constantly sourced, emit nothing but pure water and offer high fuel efficiency and an ultra-quick refuelling time of five minutes.
As the first company to mass produce a hydrogen-powered electric vehicle, we’re an official member of the global Hydrogen Council and are working with government to develop the necessary charging infrastructure. It’s all part of our belief that the future of motoring lies in hydrogen fuel cells.
Hydrogen innovation, fast refueling, remarkable range.
The Nexo’s advanced fuel cell SUV platform offers you a driving range of 666km^ with a refuelling time of just 3 to 5 minutes. It emits only water vapour from its exhaust, and purifies the air as it drives.
NEXO purifies the air.
Except for water vapour, the Nexo expels zero tailpipe emissions. Better still, it actively improves air quality as it drives. How? Because its hydrogen fuel cell stack requires purified air to function, the filter within the air intakes works to remove micro-particulates in the air. So when unused air is then expelled, the result is an outside left cleaner than it was before.
You can use the Nexo’s touchscreen display to see the amount of air purification and CO2 reduction you’ve achieved.
A revolution in research.
We believe hydrogen energy is the key to building a more sustainable future. The Nexo’s hydrogen fuel cell engine generates electricity by mixing oxygen with compressed hydrogen to create a flow of electrons. It’s brilliant, efficient, and only emits pure, clean water. Better still, the efficient and durable air purifier filters remove 99.9% of micro-particulates. This means the Nexo’s clean technology actually helps remove carbon emissions from the air while driving.

The Nexo is a bold step towards a better future. We’ve designed the exterior to reflect this, making it as streamlined and sublimely futuristic as possible. Its cascading grille and horizon LED positioning lamps propel it forward, while innovative detailing such as auto-retractable door handles give it a seamless look that complements its sleek, future-forward style.
Rear combination lights.
The triangular design of the rear LED combination lights gives the Nexo a strong stance. Combining the brake lights, tail lights and indicators, this sleek design enhances visibility and heightens the horizon aesthetics.
Smartstream wet-clutch 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).
Developed specifically for N vehicles, the 8-speed wet-clutch transmission with paddle shifters operates smoothly and with precision. With smooth and fast downshifting, an assertive sense of acceleration and an attention-grabbing engine roar, it’s certain to increase any driver’s pulse when they’re on the open road.
Launch Control & N Power.
Launch control allows you to accelerate from a standing start. When you floor the accelerator, the system maintains the engine speed at which the maximum torque is exerted by itself and charges the turbocharger to maximise the acceleration performance. N Power Shift controls the engine speed when upshifting by flooring the accelerator in Sport or Sport+ driving mode.
Active Sound Design.
Further proof that the Sonata N Line is not an average sedan is the active sound design which produces the right sound depending on each condition related to the engine speed, torque, and speed. The system combines the sound from the two sources, engine and speaker. It’s all controlled by the Vehicle Settings menu in the 10.25” multimedia screen.

The Nexo’s spacious interior is as comfortable as it is sophisticated, with all the latest technology seamlessly integrated, intuitively designed and a pleasure to observe. As you’d expect from such an environmentally-focused vehicle, eco-friendly materials have been used wherever possible, to keep you moving forward while further reducing your footprint.
Uncompromised cargo space.
Because of the spacesaving positioning of the hydrogen tanks, the Nexo provides greater amounts of boot space compared to conventional SUVs of a similar size.
A class leader in safety.
Interconnected safety technologies built into the Nexo are designed to make you aware of everything going on around you – especially the hazards you haven’t yet seen – and provide steering assist, Hyundai SmartSenseTM[H1] is a demonstration of enduring safety that will extend far beyond today.
Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM).
Hyundai’s Blind-spot View Monitor is an industry-first technology which utilises wide-angle rear-view cameras to show vehicles that are travelling in your blind spot. When the indicator is activated, the camera feed is shown on the center dashboard screen to show any potential hazards which would have been missed in a traditional rear-view mirror. Hyundai is the first automaker to provide drivers video footage from both sides of the vehicle.
Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA).
RSPA enables the Nexo to autonomously park or retrieve itself from a parking space with or without a driver in the car. The RSPA system can even back the Nexo into a parking spot by itself with a touch of a button from the driver. When faced with any challenging parking situation, the Nexo drivers will be able to park with complete confidence and accuracy.

While others talk about change, we’re driving it, and the Nexo is just one more demonstration of our commitment to creating a sustainable, eco-friendly future.
Our commitment to create a hydrogen society goes beyond transportation. In accordance with our long-term roadmap – ‘Fuel Cell Vision 2030’ – we've pledged to drastically increase annual production of our fuel cell system to 700,000 units by 2030. We've also committed to exploring new business opportunities that would see us supplying our world-class technology to manufacturers of vehicles, drones, vessels, rolling stocks and forklifts. It’s a bold, necessary step towards making this clean energy economically viable as we move towards a zero-emission world.
